Where It All Began
Pastor Brian was called to ministry and began preaching 26 years ago. He has worked in various capacities in ministry over the years and served 15 of those as senior pastor before being called to church planting. Working in Meridian, MS, Pastor Brian met with Dr. Ken Hester who suggested he meet with Dr. Wade Stevens of Longview Point Baptist Church. While partnering with Longview Point, Pastor Brian sought out a core group of believers who began meeting on Wednesday evenings for Bible study. The Hernando Public Library has graciously allowed Community Point Baptist Church to meet within the facility on Sunday mornings where we will continue to meet as long as we are able.
Pastor Brian was born in Hanover County, VA. He later graduated from South Lamar High School in Millport, AL. He is a Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoys watching them play. In his spare time he enjoys reading and spending time with his family. He is thankful for and encouraged by the continued support of his family, his loving wife of 18 years, Shan, and their three children: Donovan, Lily, and Paige.
We are a new church and with it comes alot of need for flexibility! Thankfully God instructed us to carry His Word to the end of the earth and to be the church wherever we go. Sometimes we find ourselves meeting in homes or even in neighborhoods. No matter the setting, we gather around the Word and fellowship!
Our Pastor leads our church in living the Word that God has given. Each Wednesday night, we alternate between traditional Bible Study Small Group and what we call Faith in Action. Instead scheduling numerous church functions, we provide an opportunity for our members to live out their faith and the lessons we learn. We are encouraged to spend our Faith in Action talking to a neighbor, calling a friend, praying as a family, or even helping move a friend in need. In this way, we strive to BE THE CHURCH where we work, play, and where we worship!
For the third year in a row we have reached out to our local Hernando community with the help of Eastend Baptist Church. We provide a meal and fun games and lessons all centered around the Gospel! Each year we have either seen baptisms or professions of faith and continue to be amazed by how God uses this fun event!
