MEET PASTOR BRIAN

Welcome to Community Point Church! We are so glad that you took a moment to check us out. I am Brian Hood and I serve as pastor at Community Point. Our church began in 2021. Our desire is to be a Gospel-centered and community-focused church that is rooted in God’s Word and working to reach the world for the sake of the Gospel. We meet each Sunday and we also get together every other Wednesday evening of the month for Bible study. We would love to have you come join us for worship. Visit our contact page for ways to get connected and our About Us page for more information about Community Point. I look forward to meeting you!

We are so grateful and awed by what God is doing at Community Point! We are thrilled to continue to praise His great name at our new home base located at

7496 Highway 51 S, Hernando MS 38632

starting November 2024! Please join us in praying for the Love community and how God will use our church to bring His light to this area of Hernando while also continuing to be the mobile church!

What People are Saying

“Truly a Community that Mirrors Our Eternal Home”

“My husband and I felt the call to join this church plant back in 2021. After much prayer together and since our decision to join Community Point, we have been overwhelmed by God’s hand. We have joined with a sweet body of people and a mission that is so in love with God’s Word and His vision for His church. Authenticity and unity and practical Godly living is at the heart of our new church home. It truly is a community that mirrors our eternal home and we cannot wait to see what happens next.”

I am here because of the Lord.  Sounds cliche, right?  But really, and truly.  It was a divine happenstance that led me to Community Point.  And at such a perfect time of transition in my life. However, what compels me to stay?  The work of the Church which is the central mission of our Lord Jesus – Matthew 28:19-20 – compels me to stay. The Pastor’s heart is truly for “making disciples and baptizing them,” and teaching obedience “to all that I have commanded you” (Matt. 28:19-20). I am compelled to stay and hear this message preached again and again, and to actually see our Pastor in the trenches leading the way – not only preaching but believing what he says the Bible is about in ‘works.’ As I see Community Point now, it is a place where the community of believers in their different spiritual gifts come together as one body  to express that “His kingdom which at hand,” is truly here.  Community Point is my place where the Pastor encourages me to exercise my gifts and strengths to worship Him who hung on the Cross for me.

My name is Mitch Burton and I’m a member here at Community Point. My wife, Ann, and I joined Community Point shortly after the church was planted. We were members at the planting church, Longview Point Baptist and felt led to be involved with a church plant. After meeting the pastor, Brian Hood, and attending a few services, we discussed making the move to be involved with growing a new church and reaching into some underserved areas in Hernando.

We discovered that God was speaking to us individually to be a part of this new church plant and the vision of being mobile and agile as a body was a new idea to us. We had been members of a larger congregation for many years and had gotten very comfortable and lethargic.
It has been a challenge and a blessing to start over in a smaller group and try to honor God and add to the Kingdom while growing as a congregation. We are blessed to be part of God’s church and hope to stay “Rooted in the Word, Reaching the World.”
